And more: “Amazing evening with performances from Tyrese and @davidcook. Annie Lennox is not only a beautiful artist but also a beautiful soul who touches and changes lives while inspiring us and advocating human rights. Check out SING and let’s change our world for the better
Annie Lennox was the recipient of the 2011 Harry Chapin Memorial Humanitarian Award in recognition of her outstanding work on behalf of HIV/AIDS…
Didi amidst the fanfare shared with the fans her thoughts on Ms Lennox’ commendable work. She wrote via Facebook:
“Annie Lennox just about brought me to tears tonight when she was talking about SING. We can change our world and help grant access to treat, educate, and prevent HIV. The South African people are being devastated by a pandemic which is wiping out a generation of men, women and children.
With a national HIV prevalence of 29.3%, the country has one of the world’s highest HIV rates. A THIRD of all pregnant South African women are HIV positive. Many still do not have access to the HIV treatment and support that can prevent mothers passing the virus to their unborn babies.
It’s not just South Africa that suffers either… Anyway- I’m inspired by this beautiful woman- this great cause-and I want to get involved. Let’s change the world for the better and be positive…”
