During the American Idol LIVE Tour 2010 stop at Hamilton, my friend won tickets to go backstage after the show to meet the top 10 Idols!

Here’s my experience of meeting Didi…

I had just finished talking to Siobhan and when we finished, I saw Didi was talking to someone from the crew, and leaning against the wall. I walked up to her and said “Hey Didi! I have a present for you!:)” and then she was all “Awwwhh!! You are SO sweet!” and gave me a hug.

After I gave her the present, I told her, “Didi, you were amazing tonight. The transformation from the show to tonight is phenomenal! On the show you were really good and talented, but tonight you were a professional! Congrats!”

Then Didi said, “Thank you so much! I think tonight was all of our best show! It was my best show! The crowd was amazing, and the energy was great! Canada’s wonderful!”

“Oh yeah! How do you like Canada? Having fun?”

And she was like “yes! It’s beautiful! I love it! Although…there’s a lot of mosquitos! But we have them in LA, so I’m used to it!”

“Oh really? Thats sucky! Where did you go? Toronto?”

“Yes! I went to Toronto with Siobhan and Katie! It was a lot of fun! I love the city!”

“It’s gorgeous, it’s my hometown Sorry about the mess from G-20 haha :S”

“Oh no it’s wonderful, really! I love Canada.”

“Please do not leave Canada out when you do your own tour. So many Idols go on their own tours, and they end up not coming to Canada. Kris Allen is on tour and he’s not coming here L”

“Oh! Of course not sweetie! I love Canada and I will make sure I can come here!”

“Yeah, they cancelled the other Idol shows in Canada This is the only stop!”

She’s all ,“Oh my goodness I heard! I’m so sad about it! Were you going to come to those shows?”

I just nodded, “Yeah, the Toronto one and the Buffalo one. Both Cancelled. But I’m going to go to the Chicago show, which cannot be cancelled!”

“It won’t be!! I promised you that!”

“That’s good to hear I also just wanted to you know –cue me getting choked up- seeing you go out and do this after Rebecca’s death really inspires me, I lost my best friend to leukemia last year and I haven’t gotten over it yet.”

Didi pulls me into a hug and shes all “oh no. *sad and forlorn expression* you’re never going to get over it.”

“I guess so, it’s just hard y’know? This June was her 1^st death anniversary…so… I don’t know. Just you going out and doing that… thank you. It helps to see you can get stronger from it.”

Then Didi nods, “See, now you’re gonna have to live your life to fullest two times more! I’m doing this for Rebecca, because she’s never going to live anymore so I do this for her. You need to do it for your friend since she can’t do many things. Always, ALWAYS, follow your dreams. Never stop chasing them. You’re so beautiful! You can do so many things!” and then she hugged me…again!

And I was all “thank you so much Didi. You are truly amazing.” And then we hugged again.

Then I was like “may i please have a picture and can you also sign this?”

She’s like “Of course!!!” and signed my pic then we posed for a picture and she’s like “Did it turn out well?!” and im like “Ouuh yay I didn’t cut you off!” and she’s like “Oh pfft!! No! Don’t bother with me! I love the picture!”

We hugged and I said “thank you so much. This means a lot!”

Another hug and I said bye then went over to Casey James

She’s a beautiful and wonderful person. I am SO glad I went to talk to her instead of running over to Lee….but UGH he left so we never talked. Oh well. Didi is lovely, inspiring, and beautiful!
